From the point of view of someone who became involved in MUN recently, the United Nations is something that looks, hears, and feels intimidating. This is such a big and important organization, that just thinking about it makes us feel very small, but the way our generation can help, the way we can make a change in the world, and be able to fight for what is right, is by maintaining ourselves informed. Knowing what is happening and what has already happened can help us predict what will happen next, and if that is a bad thing it can help us figure out how we can avoid it, after all, people learn from their mistakes. By participating in MUN, we are not only learning about issues that are happening in the present day, but we are also learning the perspective of different countries on that issue. When debating on a topic you are not talking about what you think, but about what your country thinks.

Knowledge is defined as information obtained through education or experience, so this means that we know these topics because we were taught about them ( self-learning including) or because we have already undergone them. By being aware of what is happening, we can also make educated decisions, for example, we know what is right from wrong, false from true, and good from the bad. MUN not only taught me to talk in public, debate and discuss, and write formal documents, but I also learned the importance to stay informed, because that is the best way to make a difference. All in all, knowledge is our generation’s power.
